Speaking at the Garvan Institute Breast Cancer Public Lecture
When I was invited to speak at the Breast Cancer Public Lecture hosted by Garvan Institute of Medical Research, one idea kept resurfacing: research rewrites what’s possible.
In my talk, I shared how evidence-based care and community connection shaped not just my diagnosis and the treatment I was fortunate to access, but everything I do now — from Rewritten Me to Regarding Me.
This event made research accessible. It brought the latest breast cancer science into language people like me could understand.
It was an honour to speak alongside leading researchers including Professor Alex Swarbrick, Associate Professor Liz Caldon, Professor Elgene Lim and Professor Sherene Loi.
Researchers around the world are working to reshape breast cancer treatment. That fills me with hope.
Thank you to Garvan for creating space for patient voices alongside scientific leadership, and to Estée Lauder Companies for supporting the event.
And the biggest thank you to the women who have raised funds and awareness for years. Because of that work, research continues — and so do we.
